What is cyber analytics?

Cybersecurity analysis is the process of examining computer systems and networks to identify and prevent security threats. This is important for both government agencies and business IT departments because cyber-attacks can result in stolen data, financial loss, and damage to reputation.

Government agencies use cybersecurity analysis to protect national security and prevent cyber espionage. For example, they may monitor internet traffic to identify potential threats or develop software to detect and neutralize malware.

Business IT departments use cybersecurity analysis to protect company assets, including sensitive data and intellectual property. This includes implementing firewalls and encryption to secure networks and monitoring employee behavior to prevent insider threats.

For instance, suppose a company’s cybersecurity analysis detects an attempted breach of its network. In that case, it can quickly respond and take steps to prevent further damage, such as blocking the attacker’s IP address or deactivating compromised accounts.
