BIRMINGHAM, AL, July 25, 2024 – QuantHub received a top award as one of six winners of the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency’s (DARPA) Building an Adaptive and Competitive Workforce track through the Tools Competition. This track awarded $750,000 to winners this year.

The Building an Adaptive and Competitive Workforce track sought tools that support adult learners in developing critical skills necessary for the current and future national security workforce. Teams that participated in this DARPA-sponsored opportunity include technologists, digital learning platform experts, researchers, students, and educators proposing tools to empower adults with the complex skills required for the continuously advancing 21st-century, such as data science and STEM competencies.

With this award, QuantHub gains the opportunity to further develop the QuantHub Challenge, an AI-driven summative assessment platform that provides personalized, real-world data science challenges to organizations and their employees through bite-sized learning modules. This advanced tool offers rigorous, real-world simulations that adapt to each learner’s progress and industry demands, ensuring practical application of knowledge in manageable chunks. In today’s increasingly AI-driven economy, data literacy is rapidly becoming as integral and commonplace as computer literacy has become. QuantHub addresses this critical need for applicable data science skills by making complex concepts more accessible and less overwhelming for busy professionals.

Josh Jones, CEO of QuantHub, shared his thoughts on the award: “We’re incredibly honored by this recognition from DARPA. It reaffirms the importance of our work in preparing tomorrow’s workforce for a future where AI will play an increasingly significant role. The QuantHub Challenge is a major leap in closing the skills gap and making data literacy accessible. Our platform is designed to empower individuals in any field to adapt and thrive as AI technologies continue to emerge and shape the job market.”

The Building an Adaptive and Competitive Workforce track was one of six funding opportunities offered as part of the 2023-24 cycle of the Tools Competition. This year, the Tools Competition received more than 1,900 submissions from applicants across the globe, including over 230 submissions to DARPA’s track alone.

The Tools Competition is in its fourth cycle and has awarded $17.5 million to 130 ed tech innovators around the world to date. The next cycle of the Tools Competition will launch in September 2024. To learn more, visit the website here. A full list of winners and their projects can be found here.
