We’re proud to share insights from our outstanding scholars who recently participated in the Innovate Alabama Talent Attraction & Retention panel, moderated by Senator Bobby Singleton, as part of State of Innovation Day.
The event showcased bright young talent from various Innovate Alabama programs, including two of our exceptional Data Scholars:
1️⃣ Meet Irene Kihara, a Spain Park graduate pursuing cybersecurity at Jefferson State Community College. During her internship with BlackBelt Technologies, she discovered her passion for integrating AI with security solutions. In her words: “Being part of QuantHub has broadened my perspective in the tech field and gave me the confidence to continue pursuing a career in tech.”
2️⃣ Calvin Kim, a homeschool senior from Northport, found his passion for data during his internship with Alabama Capital Network. His experience inspired him to expand his academic goals: “I was planning on majoring in finance. After the internship with Alabama Capital Network, I discovered that I really enjoy working with data and want to double major in data science. I plan to use it to make informed decisions in finance.”
These success stories highlight what we’ve always known–Alabama’s tech ecosystem is thriving, and we’re proud to be part of it. Irene notes, “Alabama is a rapidly growing state, especially in the tech industry.”
