2024 Alabama Data Scholars Internship Hosts

We are thrilled to announce our partners for the inaugural Data Scholars cohort of 2024!

The Alabama Data Scholars program is offering top high school juniors and seniors around the state an opportunity to explore the growing fields of data science and artificial intelligence (AI). The 8-week summer program will allow 25 Scholars to explore data at work while equipping them for success in a rapidly evolving, high-tech economy.  

The new Data Scholars program is sponsored by QuantHub and made possible through funding by Innovate Alabama.  

In addition to receiving hands-on job experience with partnering employers, Scholars will: 

  • Gain exposure to advanced skills including business analytics, data security, SQL, Python, and AI/machine learning 
  • Learn from industry leaders and researchers making a positive impact in Alabama 
  • Build a valuable professional and peer network 
  • Connect with Alabama higher education representatives  
  • Receive a $500 scholarship upon program completion

Any high school junior or senior who will be at least 16 years of age by June 1, 2024, is eligible to apply. On-site, virtual, and hybrid internship opportunities are available.  

The program session will run from June 3 – July 26, and Scholars must be able to commit ~20 hours per week to both live and asynchronous activities in order to successfully complete the program.

Our partnering employers are among the most innovative in Alabama! They are eager to engage high school students with their real-world, local job opportunities and will offer mentorship to Scholars throughout the program. During the internship session, Scholars will work on employer-sponsored projects for approximately 10-15 hours per week.
